Hi!
My name is Cara. I’m a writer, advocate, and award-winning journalist. A total Steel City girl at heart, I now make my home in Wisconsin.
I write words about faith, justice, history, and culture. My stories have appeared in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Florida Times-Union, and my nonfiction essays have appeared in Fragments of Ourselves and Start with Welcome.
I’m blessed to call many immigrants friends and currently serve as a content writer at Bethany Christian Services, one of 10 refugee resettlement agencies designated by the U.S. Department of State.
I studied journalism at the University of North Florida, earned my MFA in writing at SCAD, and graduated with my PhD in intercultural studies from Biola University.
Three random facts about me:
1. I was born footling breech. (Sorry, mom!)
2. I count Emily Dickinson and Levi Coffin as my ancestors
3. I’ve completed a tandem skydive at 15,000 feet
I’d love to connect! Say hi on Instagram or drop me a message here.
